CONCEPT

Throughout the pandemic, I found solace and connection through creating clay representations of my friends’ faces.  On the surface, they're adorned with vibrant, protective armor, serving as a visual shield against the looming threat of the virus..The eyes and mouths of these simulacra are peepholes revealing miniature worlds safely tucked inside.

As I worked on each sculpture, I decorated their interiors with symbols representing the needs of their real-life counterparts. It was a deeply personal process, imbued with intention and care. I sat with my clay friends and touched their stone faces, basking in their company. It became a form of magic–using the vessels to send my intentions and energy to their human counterparts.
